Spreading smiles

This is with reference to the story “Spreading smiles” by Muhammad Bakhtiyar (YW, August 12). The story was wonderfully written. Making others to smile is the sign of love and affection. The Independence Day of Pakistan is the day when we all come together under one flag and it is our duty to include everyone in the celebrations.

This is regarding the story “Spreading smiles” by Mohammad Bakhtiyar. I appreciate the idea of leading a peaceful life, which the writer has given in the most natural way.

Every child wants to celebrate the freedom of Pakistan with their loved ones. However, the writer in the story, nicely conveyed that celebrating Independence Day with those who cannot celebrate like we do, can makes us a proud nation.

In the same issue, the story “Real independence” by Afrah Saleem also impressed me as she identified real independence within our own nature — the way we live and think by showing how a shy girl defeated her fears by ignoring what others might think.

Morning madness

This is with reference to the story “Morning madness” by Madiha Maqsood, (YW, July 8). The story was written in a way that I could feel myself in the story.

It also reminded me of my school days when the arrangement of books in the bag according to the timetable and ironing of uniform were all done in the morning. Then I would rush to the school van with my sandwich in one hand and the school bag in the other hand, of course, with my mum’s morning lecture too in my head.

Although I have passed that stage, I feel sorry for kids who are still having this tough routine. It was indeed a true portrayal of the feelings of most children.

Carrying different loads

This is with reference to the story “Carrying different loads” by Syeda Armeen Nasim (YW, August 5).

It was a very thought provoking story which made me think of how we behave in our everyday life. We are blind to the reality of this world. We are always forcing our parents to buy us new stuff while there are many people who are not as fortunate as we are. They never think of buying new things, instead they gladly take used clothes, shoes and other things which people give them.

We should be thankful for the life we are living and be considerate to the people who are less fortunate than us.
