VEHARI: A class IX student of the Government MC Model High School, Burewala, died when his class fellow punched and thrashed him on Wednesday on the school premises, Model Town police said.

Sheron Masih, of Chak-461/EB, wanted to leave the school during recess for home but his class mate Ahmed Raza, trying to be a good cop, tried to stop him.

He kicked and punched Sheron, who collapsed on the school premises and later he was received dead at the Burewala Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

Sub-Inspector Kashif said that Ahmed had thrashed and kicked Sheron.

He said they had registered a case against Ahmed and his other accomplices under section 302/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Police handed over the body to heirs after autopsy.

Police said Ahmed and his family, resident of chak-431/EB, had fled the locality.
