SUKKUR: No individual or group would be allowed to forcibly collect donation for proscribed outfits or forcibly collect skins or hides of sacrificial animals in Sukkur district, SSP Masud Bangash told a meeting of security agencies held in his office on Thursday.
The police officer said that a strategy to prevent such offences was evolved under the National Action Plan, which was being implemented strictly.
He told the meeting that police would take stern action against those people who were found forcibly collecting donations for banned outfits or snatching skins or hides of sacrificial animals.
Briefing about the security measures taken by the police to ensure peace in the district during the Eid days, the SSP said Eid prayers and congregations were scheduled to be held at more than 170 places for which around 300 police personnel would be on duty at mosques, Imambargahs, Eidgahs and other venues of such congregations.
Deployment would be made at other sensitive places as well, he said, adding that the personnel on duty at Eid congregations would be shifted to other places after the Eid prayers.
He said that 19 police pickets had been established at the entry/exit points of the district whereas 21 mobile vans were spared for patrolling in the district. The patrolling, he added, would be done round the clock.
In Jacobabad district, Deputy Commissioner Naeem Sindhu chaired a meeting on Thursday to review measures to maintain law and order during the Eid holidays.
Earlier, he along with SSP Irfan Samoon, MNA complaint cell chief Fahad Jakhrani and officers of the police and Rangers visited different areas of Jacobabad city and met office-bearers of various organisations including the Hindu General Panchayat and Sarrafa Union.
The leaders urged the DC to ensure installation of CCTV cameras at certain points to check movement of terrorists and other criminals.
They suggested increased surveillance in order to avert terrorist or criminal acts.
SSP Samoon assured them of all possible measures to ensure peace during the Eid days in particular and onwards in general.
He said police and Rangers’ personnel would remain deployed and on alert to ensure safety and security of people across the district.
District administrations of Ghotki, Kandhkot Kashmore, Khairpur and Shikarpur also finalised their strategies to foil any attempt to shatter peace in their respective areas during the Eid holidays.
