ABBOTTABAD: Police here have arrested two alleged robbers who used to cheat people and snatch mobile phones and other valuable items from them by using an internet site and calling the sellers in Jinnahabad and other posh areas of Abbottabad.

DSP Mirpur area Amjad Hussain told mediapersons here at Mirpur police station on Thursday that cases of robbery and mobile snatching were on the rise in the area.

The police said that the first case of daylight robbery was reported by one Waheed Aurangzeb who had put his mobile on sale through a known internet site.

They said that some buyers called Aurangzeb and deprived him of his mobile. In another such case reported a few days ago in Jinnahabad, Hassan Hashmi of Abbottabad was called and deprived of his costly mobile phone. The robbers also fired at Hashmi who was hit in the leg.

The police, meanwhile, claimed that they had traced the suspects, including Haris of Nawansher, Abbottabad, and his accomplice Kamran of Peshawar, and had recovered the mobiles with one pistol. The police said that a case had been registered against both the suspects.
