KHAR: One person was killed and seven others were injured in separate road accidents here on Tuesday.

A vehicle going to Mamond from Inayat Kalli Bazaar was swept away by floodwaters, injuring five persons, local residents and officials said, adding the flood in a water channel was caused by downpour.

Locals pulled out the injured from the water and shifted them to the agency headquarters hospital, Khar, where doctors said their condition was stable.

The locals told reporters that the place where the incident took place had become dangerous for the motorists whenever there was rain. They said Thani-Mamond road was the busiest artery, but despite repeated requests the authorities had failed to construct a bridge at the site to avoid such incidents.

Meanwhile, one person was killed and two others were injured when a car plunged in to a ravine in Kashifabad area of Khar tehsil.

The vehicle was going from Khar to Nawagai.

An official of Bajaur Levies quoting eyewitness told Dawn that the accident occurred after driver lost control over the steering owing to over-speeding.

The official said one person died on the spot while two others received critical injuries.

The locals retrieved the body and the wounded from the ravine and shifted them to the agency headquarters hospital.
