LAHORE: The All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) has announced boycotting the NA-120 by-election stating that the Election Commission of Pakistan did not allot party’s election symbol to its candidate.

At a news conference at the Lahore Press Club on Friday, APML chief organiser Faqir Husain Bukhari flanked by candidate Syed Waseem Shah stated that the APML was registered with the ECP as a political party and it was allotted “eagle” as election symbol. However, he said, the party candidate was allotted “tap” as an election symbol.

Mr Bukhari said the APML was facing problems in the constituency, including tearing down of posters and flexes.

“Considering these problems and non-recognition of the party as a registered entity, the APML has decided to boycott the by-election,” he said.
