Benazir Bhutto case

Published September 12, 2017

THIS is apropos M. Akram Niazi’s letter (Aug 2) in which he has expressed his dissatisfaction with the Benazir Bhutto case verdict by the court.

Unfortunately, the court did not find the main accused guilty of the charges. It was natural that the PPP outrightly rejected the court’s verdict.

But the million-dollar question is: why PPP, which was in power for five long years after her assassination, did not make any worthwhile effort to get the case investigated to bring the culprits to book.

In fact, the PPP had encashed sympathy votes to come to power. The Scotland Yard and UN investigation reports were all hogwash.

I am not an expert to give tips on how to catch the conspirators, but common sense dictates that if a fresh inquiry commission or a joint investigation team is formed, it can find the real killer.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has termed the verdict in the Benazir Bhutto murder case disappointing and unacceptable.

May I ask the son and the family of Benazir Bhutto to explain why they did not attend even a single proceeding of the case pertaining to her assassination?
