Dawn.com won two awards at the prestigious World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) South Asian Digital Media Awards 2017. The association announced winners at the WAN-IFRA India conference in Chennai on Wednesday.

The digital publication won the silver and bronze titles in the Best Data Visualisation category for:

From Pakistan, the Jang Media Group won the silver title in the Best Innovation New Product category for its recently launched Jang Real mobile app.

The Best News Website category was dominated by India, where The Hindu, The Quint and NDTV won the gold, silver and bronze titles, respectively.

The Best Innovation to Engage Youth Audience category was also introduced this year; The Hindu won the gold title for its Young World Club in this category.

The awards — a joint initiative by WAN-IFRA and Google — recognise best practice innovation in digital publishing worldwide. It is presented in every region: South Asia, Asia, Middle East, Africa, Europe and Latin America.

The winners from each region subsequently compete for the World Digital Media Awards to be announced in Berlin on October 10 during the World Publishing Expo & Digital Content Expo.
