ABBOTTABAD: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Sirajul Haq said on Saturday that ruthless accountability was needed in the country to clear the mess created over last seven decades by corrupt rulers who looted the country’s wealth.

Addressing a public meeting at the hockey stadium here, he said that the people of Pakistan wanted to get rid of this corrupt system where everything was meant for the wealthy and rich people only.

Mr Haq said that the rulers had weakened the foundation of the country by corrupting each and every department. He said that the people were waiting for an Islamic revolution to throw away the shackles of this corrupt system. He said that if his party came to power he would ensure to give a corruption-free Pakistan to the people.

The JI chief said that his party would fight at each and every forum to restore the respect of the government departments and would make a strong Pakistan whose leadership would be brave and loyal.

He claimed that all the political parties were working on one-point agenda and that was corruption and that this was the time that people should come forward and support JI to make the country free from all such evils.

He alleged that the daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was distributing money among the people of Lahore for winning the by-election. He said that had the PML-N leaders done anything for the people they should have no fear of losing the seat. He said that the aim of the PML-N was to buy loyalties of the people irrespective of class.

Mr Haq said that during hearing of the Panama case, the judges had remarked that only one man who fulfilled the conditions of Articles 62 and 63 was the JI chief. “This is an ample proof of our honesty and we want that each of our elected representatives should be tested under the law,” he added.

JI provincial chief Mushtaq Ahmed Khan and local office-bearers also spoke on the occasion.
