QUETTA: A conference was held at the Southern Command Headquarters on Thursday to review security arrangements made for the Islamic month of Muharram. It was decided at the conference that all steps would be taken to protect the life and property of people.

Commander Southern Command Lt Gen Aamir Riaz presided over the conference while provincial Home Minister Mir Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti, Frontier Corps Inspector General Maj Gen Naeem Anjum, CCPO Quetta Abdul Razzaq Cheema and other military and civil officials were also present.

Religious leaders from different schools of thought and leaders of the Anjuman-i-Tajran delegations met Lt Gen Riaz.

While talking to the ulema, Lt Gen Riaz underlined the need for religious harmony. He said the enemy wanted to create sectarian issues through terrorism “but we should foil their nefarious designs through unity in our ranks”. He added that it was good to know that the ulema were aware of these elements and their plans.
