SUKKUR: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah on Sunday assured a group of protesters belonging to the Jamali community that he would ask the Sukkur DIG and SSP for an impartial inquiry into an alleged police encounter that had left two youths wounded.

Rizwan Jamali and Imdad Jamali, leading the protesters, approached Mr Shah when he was visiting Bachal Shah Miani locality to attend an event. They told him that two youths of their community, Ajab Gul Jamali and Inam Jamali, were shot and wounded by a team of the A-Section police in the name of encounter with criminals about two months ago. They said that while the community was pursuing legal course against the “fake” encounter, the police resorted to implicating the youths in false cases of dacoity, possession of arms and attack on police. Mr Shah told the protesters that he would get the matter investigated by senior police officials and justice restored to them.
