At least three people were injured in a suspected hand grenade blast near MMC Hospital on Peshawar's Ring Road on Friday.

Police officials termed the nature of the explosion as a hand grenade blast, and said it may have taken place during an attempted kidnapping for ransom. However, the case is still being investigated.

A spokesperson from Rescue 1122 earlier said that five people had been injured in the blast and were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital.

Police officials later revised the number of casualties down, saying that three people had been injured in the blast.

According to an official of the Paharipura police station, the explosion occurred outside the hospital in Shinwari Town.
