KARACHI, Aug 21: Pakistan People’s Party’s chairperson Ms Benazir Bhutto has termed the sudden splash of the Swiss bank accounts scandal against her and her husband Asif Zardari a deliberate move of the regime.

She said the move was aimed at diverting people’s attention from the far-reaching compromises General Musharraf had made regarding Israel, Kashmir and other issues during his recent visit to the US and Europe.

“It is interesting that the Swiss magistrate suddenly reappeared on the scene after General Musharraf’s tour in June of Europe and America,” said Ms Bhutto in a communication to Syed Hanif, in charge People’s Secretariat. Ms Bhutto maintained that none of the disputed bank accounts belonged to her. She slammed the regime for character assassination.
