Sindh Police on Monday suspended two police officials for using abusive language against a citizen who was reportedly taking pictures of a police protocol on Shahrah-i-Faisal, Karachi main thoroughfare, officials told Dawn.
Superintendent of police (SP) of the Security-I division Malik Ehsan confirmed to Dawn that the officials have been suspended for abusive behaviour. He also said that the suspended officers belonged to Security-I.
The police, however, did not provide the name of the senior government official who the squad was providing security to.
The video of the incident, that has gone on viral on social media, shows the policemen misbehaving with a citizen over making a video of the security squad. It also caught the attention of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, A.D Khowaja, who ordered an inquiry.
The IGP appointed Ehsan as the inquiry officer and directed him to conduct a thorough probe and submit a detailed report of the incident, a police spokesperson said.
The officer said that the police were trying to trace the citizen, who was driving by in a car when he came by the security squad, to record his statement but he disappeared after the incident.

The citizen cannot have them fired from their jobs, but the high muki muk they were escourting through traffic can. The police must not be hampered in doing their "official" business.

Shame and due punishment as per law to the so called VIP for whom the security was provided as he/she failed to stop the policeman to act in this criminal manner or rather he/she was the guilty person who instructed the policeman to beat the car driver.

This is a very good initiative by the frustrated citizen by such everyday occurrences. It would be a great idea if we could make a law to have a mandatory requirement to instal video cameras on all cars and buses on roads so that such events could be reported instantly to the authorities for apprehending and subjecting to due process of law. Such cameras with complete recording with sounds are available today at very cheap prices

Thinking rationally - the primary fault is of the citizen. The act he was involved in, can be thought of reccying or reconnaissance which target killers do to meet their objectives. This is a serious offence and the police have the right to act on that. The police even had a soft hand on the person otherwise they could eaisly taken him for interrogation with new problems for the gentlemen.
In the risk atmosphere we are living in and the kind of threats been exposed to, everyone wants to have security around based on the capacity available. Business men, landowners and anyone who can afforf arw having private security arrangements.
From my perspective, the citizen at shear fault. The nature treatment he got, we all know the grooming and mentoring of the police, however, the police station journey could be more painful for him.
