GUJRANWALA, Aug 21: The Anti-Terrorism Court No 2, Gujranwala, declared Sialkot jail former deputy superintendent as proclaimed offender and issued non-bailable arrest warrant against him here on Thursday.
Malik Muhammad Iftikhar, involved in the Sialkot jail incident, disappeared when a case was registered against him.
Meanwhile, judge Mirza Raifuddin extended the 11-day judicial remands of Sialkot jail former superintendent Sikandar Hayat, assistant superintendent Akhtar Iqbal, jail warder Abdul Hafiz, constables Raja Mushtaq Hussain, Ghulam Muhammad, Riasat Ali, Abdul Aziz and Shahid, the brother of main accused Muhammad Ishaq. The judge also directed the police to produce all of them before court on Sept 1.
The judge also issued a notice to the complainant in connection with the bail application of the arrested assistant superintendent, Akhtar Iqbal. The judge directed the police to submit a complete challan on the next hearing.
REJECTED: Nomination papers of two aspirants for the slot of Kamoki tehsil nazim were rejected by the returning officer on Thursday.
Two nazims of union councils — Chaudhry Naseer, Ahmad Chattha and Ehsanullah filed their nomination papers without tendering their resignation from the nazimship.
While PML-Q aspirant Sajjad Ahmad, brother of provincial transport minister Chaudhry Shamshad Ahmad, raised an objection against them. However, the judge cleared the nomination papers of the remaining half a dozen aspirants.
SHOT DEAD: A man was shot dead while his son sustained injuries when opponents opened fire on them over the row of a mosque construction in Sooratabad village on Thursday.
Prayer leader Qari Sher Muhammad wanted to construct the mosque on a disputed land which was opposed by villagers. Ghulam Ali and his son Habibullah supported the prayer leader. On Thursday, Amin, Qurban, Saleem and others opened fire on them, killing Ghulam Ali instantly and injuring his son seriously.
ARMS SEIZED: The police arrested an arms dealer of Wazirabad on Thursday on the charge of supplying illegal weapons to criminals.
According to reports, police searched the car of Kashif Hamid and recovered five pistols and a pump action gun from it.
A case has been registered against him.
Ghakhar police said that Kashif purchased arms from a dealer for supply to criminals.
