Pizookie, or pizza cookie, is a tasty dessert that was first introduced in restaurants that specialised in pizzas. The only thing it has in common with pizza is that it is cooked in a round pan, so basically it’s a large chocolate chip cookie. And like the pizza bread, it can be topped in any way to enhance its taste.

I just used M&Ms on top, though ice-cream scoops are a yummier choice which you can try. Unlike our usual recipes, in this one you will need the help of your mum or an adult as this pizookie is baked in the oven. But the rest of the process is very easy and you can do it on your own, of course after taking permission from your mum as you will be messing up in her kitchen!

Ingredients

• 1/2 cup butter

• 1/2 cup sugar

• 1/2 cup brown sugar

• 1 tsp vanilla

• 1 egg

• 1 1/2 cup flour

• 1/2 tsp baking soda

• 1/4 tsp salt, optional

• 1/2 cup chocolate chips

• M&Ms to decorate on the top

Method

Preheat oven to 350.

The dough can be assembled in the baking pan directly, but I used a bowl for mixing and then transferred it to a greased round eight-inch baking pan.

Mix all the dry ingredients first and stir well with a spoon. Now add melted butter, egg and vanilla essence. Mix well again. Add chocolate chips and stir lightly. Now transfer it to the baking pan and flatten with a spoon to cover the whole pan evenly.

Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden brown. Take out and let it cool for 15 minutes or so, before trying to slice it or take it out of the pan, otherwise it will break if it is still too warm.

Enjoy as it is or with a scoop of ice-cream or your favourite topping.
