No civic sense

Whenever I travel out of Pakistan, I always see clean surroundings. I see no garbage lying around the streets, parks, walking trails, etc. The cars never honk needlessly and people wait for their turn in any queue. There isn’t any noise pollution or air pollution.

However, in Pakistan, the atmosphere is in complete contrast to the most foreign lands. There are no dustbins and if there are, they are usually overflowing, with heaps lying around it because garbage collectors don’t come regularly. The second biggest nuisance, I guess, is that people spit wherever they feel like. As a result, the corners of the stairways and walls are stained and dirty.

Furthermore, people don’t care about driving rules so they honk whenever they like and skip using the indicator lights; they park wherever they want, which can be in the middle of the road to pick and drop someone. I have seen educated people doing this.

In other words, people have no civic sense. I don’t understand why people have adopted such dirty and uncivilised habits. Sadly, I wish Pakistan to become like other countries of the world with all the good things and not the bad ones.

Turn down the volume

This is with reference to article “Turn down the volume” by Kashif Hafeez (YW, August 26).

The article accurately detailed the affects of noise on our ears, and it was rightly said that we have to take care of our ears and avoid loud noise.

Paperclip bookmarks

This is with reference to the Wonder craft “Paperclip bookmarks” by Asif Ali (YW, September 16). It was such a cute craft that I immediately tried it out. It looks so beautiful on my books and notebooks.

I request the writer to provide more school-related crafts so that we can make nice things.

Don’t accuse anyone

This is with reference to the story “Don’t accuse anyone” by Iqra Aslam Memon (YW, September 16). I have learnt a lot of lessons from the story, for example you should not make assumptions unless you are sure about something.

False accusations destroy relationships, so you should try to understand the situation before saying anything. Remember that life’s greatest lessons are usually learnt at the worst times and from the worst mistakes.

Nobody’s perfect, as everyone makes mistakes. But some mistakes will teach you great lessons and make you a better person.
