ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) on Friday announced that A-level students can take admissions in MBBS and BDS programs across Pakistan on open merit and foreign quota, though the latter will only be for foreign nationals, those with dual nationality or overseas Pakistanis who have obtained their A-levels or an equivalent qualification from a foreign institution.

PMDC President Prof Dr Shabir Lehri said A-levels students in Pakistan have to clear entry tests by their respective provinces or region.

According to the 2013 regulations, students only have to appear in entry exams in order to get admission in a medical college and the council made it mandatory in 2016 for students to pass the entry test as well.

“A-levels students in Pakistan will have to pass the entry test in their respective region or province and will be allowed to contest on merit for open quota of 85pc seats and the 15pc seats set aside for foreign students,” he said.

He said parents and students seeking information are advised to contact the PMDC directly or visit its website.
