HARIPUR: Adviser to the chief minister on communications and works Akbar Ayub Khan inaugurated the newly-constructed building of the trauma centre here on Saturday.

Former provincial minister Yousuf Ayub, doctors and PTI workers were present on the occasion.

Speaking to the participants, Akbar Khan said despite being a high revenue earning district, the residents of Haripur were deprived of the facility of a modern trauma centre owing to which the practice of referring emergency cases to Abbottabad and other cities always proved costly for the locals.

He said the 40-bed trauma centre building was completed with a cost of Rs60 million while Rs35 million had been allocated for purchase of machinery which, he claimed, would be done in next few months. He said the centre would remain open round the clock, serving not only the people of Haripur but also those traveling on the GT Road between Hasan Abdal and Havelian.

The CM’s adviser said this was the second trauma centre of the province after the one in Lady Reading Hospital of Peshawar, adding it would have a state-of-the-art mortuary, two operation theatres and two male and female wards.

Akbar Ayub announced the provincial government had also approved Rs300 million for reconstruction of women and children hospital, saying the chief minister would lay foundation stone of the building in a few days. He also announced Rs100 million for the DHQ hospital.

POLICE INQUIRY: The Ghazi police have started inquiry into the complaint of a man who accused his son-in-law of murdering his daughter over unknown reasons in Jamu village, police said on Saturday.

Police quoted Obaidur Rehman of Kotha village of Swabi as saying on Friday evening he was informed by his son-in-law Arshad Ali that his wife had committed suicide.

The complainant said his daughter was married three years back but she often complained of negative attitude of her husband, adding he suspected Arshad and his family of murdering his daughter.

Meanwhile, Arshad Ali informed police that he left home for Friday prayers, but when he got back he found his wife hanging from ceiling fan in their bedroom.

He claimed the victim was psychological depressed due to unknown reasons.
