ABBOTTABAD: The Cantonment Board launched a weeklong cleanliness campaign in the Abbottabad city on Monday.

Besides removing garbage and cleaning drains, illegal encroachments will also be removed during the drive, Brig Faisal, station commander Abbottabad, told mediapersons.

He said a forceful awareness campaign was being launched with the involvement of general public and other stakeholders, adding display of banners and placards at prominent places and using media to highlight importance of cleanliness were also part of the programme to make the drive a success.

He said extra vehicles had been hired for lifting garbage and all areas of the cantonment board, including civilian spots, would be cleaned.

To a question, he said debates and speeches would be arranged among students of different schools, besides organising poster competitions and flower exhibitions in that regard.
