DADU: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf is all set to hold a public meeting at Lal Bagh, two kilometres from the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, in Sehwan on Sunday.

Some private TV channels on Saturday quoted party chairman Imran Khan as saying that he would make an important announcement with regard to Sindh at the gathering.

He said in a video message that Sindh was more in need of change than other provinces. PTI would outline a comprehensive plan to pull the province out of the abyss of corruption, he said.

Besides Imran, PTI vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, secretary general Jahangir Tareen, former Sindh chief minister Liaquat Ali Jatoi, former federal minister Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind and Arif Alvi will address the public meeting.

The party has put up PTI flags and banners across Sehwan and all its adjoining areas, inviting public to attend the public meeting in large numbers.

On Saturday, Mr Jatoi and Mr Rind reviewed arrangements at the venue for the gathering. They told journalists that PTI was holding the public meeting at Lal Bagh after Sindh government had created hindrances to the party’s show at the town’s stadium.

Mr Jatoi said the gathering would accelerate the party’s ongoing drive against massive corruption in Sindh government and it was highly significant to raise voice against corruption in Sehwan because it was near the hometown of incumbent Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

Mr Rind said that Sindh government was afraid of PTI and its voters and that was why the stadium’s doors were sealed to keep the party from organising the gathering there.

The two leaders had earlier addressed gatherings in the towns of Johi, Wahi Pandhi, Tando Rahim Khan, Shah Hassan and Jhangara-Bajara to invite public to attend the meeting.

Meanwhile, PTI activists took out a rally in Sehwan and invited people to attend the gathering in large numbers. The party’s senior vice chairman Mr Qureshi had also visited several parts of the province to make the PTI gathering a success.
