Hasan stars as Pakistan upstage Sri Lanka in first T20

Medium pacer Hasan Ali finished with a career-best bowling to once again anchor Pakistan's convincing seven-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the first Twenty20 in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.
Hasan, who took 14 wickets in Pakistan's preceding 5-0 whitewash of the one-day series, took 3-23 in 3.3 overs as Pakistan skittled Sri Lanka out for a paltry 102 in 18.3 overs.
Only Seekkuge Prasanna (23 not out) and debutant Sadeera Samarawickrama (23) put some resistance against a varied Pakistan bowling attack.
Pakistan did lose Fakhar Zaman (six), Babar Azam (one) and Ahmed Shehzad (22) but were seen through to the target by Shoaib Malik 42 not out and Mohammad Hafeez 25 not out with 16 balls to spare.
That gave Pakistan a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Malik hit four boundaries in his 31-ball knock while Hafeez's 23-ball innings had three hits to the ropes as the pair added 39 for the unbroken fourth wicket stand.
It was again Pakistan's bowling which led them to victory.
Sri Lanka lost wickets at regular intervals after looking to build the innings at 51-2 in the ninth over. But they lost their last eight wickets for another 51 runs and were bowled out for their second lowest Twenty20 total against Pakistan.
All six Pakistan bowlers took wickets with spinner Mohammad Hafeez (2-10) and pacer Usman Shinwari (2-24) supplementing Hasan to the best effect.
Sent into bat, Sri Lanka lost Dilshan Munaweera for nought off the third ball of the first over while Dashun Gunathilaka made 11-ball 18 with three boundaries.
Samarawickrama and Ashan Priyanjan (12) had added 22 for the third wicket but wicket started to fall in cluster and Sri Lanka could never recover.
Just like in one-day series, Hasan was at his best in taking wickets, removing Sachith Pathirana (four), Isuru Udana (nought) and Vikum Sanjaya (four) to improve on his previous best of 3-49 against the West Indies in Dubai last year.
Skipper Thisara Perera made six. It was left to Prasanna to hit two sixes in his run-a-ball 23 to get past 100-mark.
The second match is also in Abu Dhabi on Friday before the teams fly to Lahore for the last match on Sunday.

Taking nothing away from pakistan team, but I do feel SL is worst team at the moment. In fact Bangladesh is better team as of now.

Great win by the grace of God. Mohammad Nawaz should play the next match in place of Imad Wasim. Nawaz is by far a better bowler, batsmen and fielder then overrated Imad Wasim.

First of all T-20 is not real cricket. We cannot judge any team's skills and strength solely on the basis of T-20.
In fact this format has done maximum damage to five day cricket in Pakistan. This is nothing but an unrestrained indulgence in generating money by exploitation in the name of cricket.

Interesting choice for headline! Hasan was most expensive and out of three wicket two were of 9 and 10th batsmen. Usman got the Man of the Match but headline starts with "Hasan stars" and no mention of Usman. Just wondering, are we talking about same match. lol

@aleem India won 4 games in Australia including a whitewash when they toured Australia. Pakistan were winless there.
India handed a 4-1 defeat to England last time they toured UK. Pakistan drew 2 matches

Recently in world cup -Thrashed Pakistan in Adelaide by 86 runs ,, Easily beat South Africa in Melbourne by 140 runs , beat Windies in Perth India won by 4 wickets (with 65 balls remaining), easily accounted for Bangladesh in Melbourne. Beat Zimbabwe 4-0 in July 2015! Beat SL in SL 2-1

Lopsided game. With 7 new debutants in Sri Lanka because of Pakistans insistence to play 1 T20 in Lahore. I believe Pakistan should slowly build the confidence in teams to tour Pakistan and it is on the right track. But it must sometimes take into account sensitivity specifically if majority of players are not willing to tour Pakistan. Big fault lies actually with the Sri Lankan board. This is definitely going to be a 3-0 green wash.

@Mahen didn't you know how badly Pakistan defeated favorites England, SA, India in a recent ICC Champions Trophy in England and won the tournament while Pakistan team was considered as minnows. the thing is this current badge of Pakistan cricket team have some genuine and raw talent which is hard to digest by haters.

For those who say India doesn't play well abroad (a fact) but Pakistan is great abroad, here's a look at comparing the performance of the 2 teams in the 3 main overseas locations :
Last time a test series was won in England :
India : 2007 (Won 3, Lost 8, Drawn 5 in 16 tests since 2000)
Pak : 1996 (Won 4, Lost 9, Drawn 1 in 14 tests since 2000)
Last time a test match was won in Australia (since no one has won a test series in Aus) :
India : 2008 (Won 2, Lost 9, Drawn 6 in 17 tests since 2000)
Pak : 1995 (continuously lost 9 out of 9 tests since 2000)
Last time a test match was won in SA (since no one has won a test series in SA) :
India : 2011 (Won 2, Lost 5, Drawn 2 in 10 tests since 2000)
Pak : 2006 (Won 1 and Lost 7 in 8 tests since 2000)
Conclusion : None of the teams can talk of a great overseas record
