SAHIWAL: Four people were crushed to death after an oil tanker overturned at Iqbal Nagar Bypass on Lahore-Multan Motorway on Saturday.

The deceased were pedestrians and passers-by, including a cyclist and a motorcyclist.

After the accident, 300 litre diesel leaked and spread on the road. Rescuers used a crane to lift the tanker.

The deceased included Sadi, a resident of Chak 39/14-L, Ahmad Ali of Chak 38-EB, Raheel Dar of Chak 45/15-L. One of the deceased could not be identified. Kasowal police arrested truck driver.

THREE DIE: Three persons, including two brothers, were killed in a road accident near Chak 132/9-L, on Lahore-Multan Motorway.

Muhammad Ramzan, 29, his younger brother Afzal, 26, and their servant Umer Hayat, 20, residents of Harappa, were coming to Sahiwal on a motorcycle.

Eyewitness told the police a speeding mini-truck hit their motorcycle from behind at a U-turn. As a result, all the three riders of the motorcycle died on the spot. The truck driver escaped. Ghala Mandi police registered case against the driver.

ACCIDENT: A car transporter trailer, loaded with new cars, overturned at Chichawatni bypass on Lahore-Multan Motorway.

The Karachi-bound trailer was coming from Lahore. Nine new cars fell down and were damaged. One car fell into a trench on the roadside.

The truck driver received minor injuries and he was given first aid by Rescue 1122.
