Lifetime Achievement Award for Diana Ross

Diana Ross will be honoured with the American Music Award for Lifetime Achievement at the upcoming AMA ceremony. Ross is a seven-time AMA winner who previously hosted the awards show in 1986 and 1987.

“I have endless memories of all the years that I have appeared on the American Music Awards,” the iconic singer said in a statement. “It started with Dick Clark and The Caravan of Stars and American Bandstand. It was Dick Clark who said ‘Music is the soundtrack of our lives.’ So true. I am so excited to be receiving this honourable award.”

The prestigious award is given “to artists who have made truly exceptional contributions to the music industry.”

The American Music Awards will take place on November 19 at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.

Irwin family to star in new Animal Planet series

The Irwin family says it has signed on to star in a new television docu-series in 2018.

“Crikey! So excited to announce that we are officially returning to @AnimalPlanet next year! We love the @DiscoveryComm family,” Bindi Irwin tweeted, along with a brief announcement video featuring her mother Terri and brother Bob confirming the Animal Planet project, but not offering many details, such as its name, focus or exact debut date.

The Irwin family runs the Australia Zoo. They starred alongside Terri’s husband Steve in the reality show The Crocodile Hunter, which initially aired from 1996 to 2007.

Steve died after he was pierced in the heart by a stingray barb when he was 44, and his wife and children have since carried on his wildlife conservation work.

Han Solo spinoff film

Ron Howard announced the official title of the upcoming Star Wars standalone film about a young Han Solo, as production on the project has wrapped. The filmmaker tweeted the film’s official title alongside a video of himself.

“To the fans out there, I hope that you’ve enjoyed the pictures that I’ve been sharing,” Howard says in the clip in reference to the various on-set photos he has posted from the film over social media.

“Can we even say the name of the movie?” Howard then asks before he is handed a cue card from what appears to be Star Wars character Chewbacca. The cue card when flipped over reads Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Solo will star Alden Ehrenreich in the title role first made famous by Harrison Ford, along with Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson and Thandie Newton. The film is still expected to be released on May 25, 2018.
