ISLAMABAD: Top seed Shimza Tahir will take on second seed Esha Jawad in the U-18 girls final after both comfortably won their respective semi-finals in the McDonald’s National Junior Tennis Championships here at the Pakistan Sports Complex on Friday.

In the first semi-final, Shimza proved too good for unseeded Bismina who was outplayed by the former 6-0, 6-0.

Esha in her last-four clash against Sheeza Sajid also won with the same scoreline.

Meanwhile, all top seeds easily qualified for the boys U-18 singles semi-finals after registering impressive victories against their respective opponents.

In the quarter-final matches, top seed Saqib Umar defeated Ilham Khan 6-1, 7-5; Ahmed Asjad overwhelmed Hasheesh Kumar 6-4, 7-5; Asadullah outclassed Aqib Umar 6-3, 6-1 and Mohammad Shoaib routed Subhan Bin Salik 6-1, 6-1.

Saqib will face Ahmad while Shoaib will lock horns with Asadullah in the semi-finals.

In the boys U-14, unseeded Hasheesh Kumar made a major upset when he eliminated top seed Sami Zaib in the semi-final. After winning the first set 7-5 by showing a fine baseline ability, Hasheesh did not allow Sami to settle while bagging the second set 6-4 and with it the match.

In the second last-four encounter, another unseeded player, Hamid Israr, stunned second seed Abdul Hannan 6-4, 6-4.

Quarter-finals: Saqib Umar bt Ilham Khan 6-1, 7-5; Ahmed Asjad bt Hasheesh Kumar 6-4,7-5; Asadullah bt Aqib Umar 6-3, 6-1; Mohammad Shoaib bt Subhan Bin Salik 6-1, 6-1.

Girls U-18 singles:

Semi-finals: Shimza Tahir bt Bismina 6-0, 6-0; Esha Jawad bt Sheeza Sajid 6-0, 6-0.

Boys U-18 doubles:

Semi-finals: Mohammad Shoaib/Saqib Umar bt Sami Zaib/Subhan bin Salik 6-2, 7-6(4); Asadullah/Aqib Umar bt Zalan Khan/M. Abdullah 6-3, 6-3.

Boys U-14 singles:

Semi-finals: Hasheesh Kumar bt Sami Zaib 7-5, 6-4; Hamid Israr bt Abdul Hannan 6-4, 6-4.

Boys U-12 singles:

Quarter-finals: Hamza Roman bt Abdul Hanan 3-5, 5-4(6), 4-2; Bilal Asim bt Ahmed Nael 4-5(4), 4-2, 4-1; Mahatir Mohammad bt Mohammad Huzaifa Khan 5-3, 4-0; Hamid Israr bt Mohammad Talha Khan 4-1, 4-1.

Boys/girls U-10 singles:

Quarter-finals: Hamza Roman bt Hamad Shah 4-1, 4-0; Abdullah Azhar bt Zainab Ali Raja 4-0, 4-0; Sheeza Sajid bt Fatima Ali Raja 4-5(4), 5-4(2), 4-0; Ahtisham Humayun bt Jamal Shah 5-3, 0-0 -- Jamal retired.
