SAHIWAL: Around 40-member Sikh delegation from the UK visited Punjabi Sufi poet Baba Farid’s shrine in Pakpattan on Monday.

The Sikh pilgrims traveled from Nankana Sahib to pay homage to Baba Farid whose Ashloks were included in the Granth Sahib. The delegation stayed at the shrine for three hours.

They prayed at the shrine and distributed food (Langer) among the devotees. Earlier, on their arrival, Auqaf Department Manager Gohar Mustafa welcomed them and showed all parts of shrine.

The caretakers of the shrine presented them with green shawls and souvenirs as token of love from Pakpattan.

The delegation was led by Sudaghar Singh Nagra and Sikh delegates were not allowed to speak to the media because of security reasons.

FAREWELL: The professors and faculty members of the Sahiwal Medical College and DHQ Teaching Hospital medical superintendent organised a farewell party for Dr Zafar Hussain Tanveer, the outgoing principal of Sahiwal Medical College. He has been appointed as vice chancellor of the Nishtar Medical University, Multan.

It is learnt the secretary of the Punjab Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department has issued a notification in this regard. However, no one has been posted at the post of thePrincipal of the Sahiwal Medical College left vacant by Mr Tanveer.
