KARACHI: Acting Managing Director Sui Southern Gas Company Ltd (SSGCL) Amin Rajput has said new connections for commercial and industrial users are available now as gas shortage has been overcome.

He said regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) would be transmitted/distributed as allocated by the Ministry of Energy to SSGC’s franchise.

“We will be able to supply gas to the industrial sector. This will result in the elimination of weekly closure of gas to the industrial sector,” he said while talking to the members of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (Kati) on Wednesday. Mr RAjput said that LNG is fuel of the future and its availability is indispensable to bridge the demand-supply gap of natural gas, as well as overcoming energy crisis in the country.

SSGC has developed the requisite pipeline infrastructure for transmitting RLNG volumes, he added.

He said there is zero tolerance on gas theft as it impacts severely on SSGC’s bottom line, which is one of the main causes of our lines losses. Kati President Tarik Malik said that the gas pressure has increased than before resulting in improved industrial production.
