MQM-P MNA Raza Abidi resigns

ISLAMABAD: An MNA of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), Syed Ali Raza Abidi, announced his resignation from the National Assembly on Monday.

In a letter written to Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and shared on Twitter, Mr Abidi cited political and personal reasons for quitting his seat.

Last week when the MQM-P decided to enter into an alliance with the Pak Sarzameen Party, Mr Abidi had said that he would resign his NA seat in protest against the decision.

Though the alliance between the two parties ended within 24 hours of its formation, Mr Abidi said he would stick to his stand.

The speaker has invited the MNA to his chamber on Wednesday for verification of his resignation as per the assembly rules.
