LAHORE: The second day of All Pakistan Music Conference included performances by vocalists and instrumentalist from various classical gharanas.

The conference has been organised in collaboration with Punjab Council of Arts at Open Air Theatre Bagh-i-Jinnah.

The classical and semi-classical music gala started right on time at 6pm and attracted audience from every walk of life and age group.

Vocalists sang Sufi verses, ghazals, folk and khayal whereas the instrumentalists played dhol, tabla, clarinet and sitar. Some of the well-received performances included a composition by Ustad Tasadduq Hussain, ‘Jaa Vey Pardesiya’, sung by his son Ustad Sarwat Ali Khan as well as Khawaja Ghulam Farid’s kaafi sung by Tahir Iqbal, ‘Aa Mil Maayia’.

Dhol player Zaigham Abbas, who has been playing for seven years, had the audience on their feet. Ajaz Ali Khan from Shaam Chaurasi Gharana performed in Raag Koshikand and Chand Suraj Khan performed Raag Priya. The performances were under way till the filing of this report.

Thursday (today) will feature folk music, songs, ghazal, kaafi and thumri.
