ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet, which met under Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi here on Thursday, took up routine business, approving appointments on different posts and the signing of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with different countries.
According to a handout issued by the PM Office, the cabinet approved appointment of Murtaza Khan, a BS-20 officer of the Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service Group, as financial adviser in the Pakistan Ordnance Factories board.
It also approved appointment of Rehmatullah as member of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) from Balochistan.
The cabinet approved the signing of MoUs on bilateral political consultations with Denmark and Slovak Republic. It also approved the signing of MoUs with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific and between the National School of Public Policy and Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration.
The cabinet gave ex-post facto approval for the acceptance of awards — King Abdul Aziz Medal of Excellence and Honorary Award of Malaysian Armed Forces Order of Valour-Gallant Commander of Malaysian Armed Forces, First Degree — by the governments of Saudi Arabia and Malaysia, respectively, to former chief of naval staff retired Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah.
The appointments of Nasim A. Virk as judge of the special court (central) in Faisalabad; District and Sessions Judge Nasir Hussain as judge of the Banking Court in Bahawalpur, and DSJ Naveed Ahmad as judge of the Banking Court-II, Gujranwala, were also approved.
A proposal by the National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination Division to implement inter-ministerial committee’s recommendations on enhancement of pictorial health warning on cigarette packets was also approved. The constitution of the board of directors of the National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority was also approved.
The cabinet accorded ex-post facto approval for acceptance of Star of Merit to Zamir Akram, former ambassador of Pakistan, by the government of Palestine.
