KHAIRPUR: A state-of-the-art ‘painless childbirth room’ set up with the help of Khairpur Medical College (KMC) was inaugurated at Lady Willington Hospital here on Monday.

PPP MNA Nafisa Shah, who performed the inauguration ceremony, appreciated doctors and staff of the hospital for setting up the facility and said that medical community should take more such measures to facilitate patients and Khairpur Medical College should pay special attention to performance, research, technicalities and safety measures at the facility.

She expressed concern over lack of attention to primary healthcare in society and said early marriages caused various problems which were difficult to address. A bill aimed at restricting underage marriages had been passed and police and other authorities concerned had been issued directives to extend cooperation in preventing marriages of girls below 18 years of age in order to curb the harmful custom and the problems arising out of it, she said.
