OKARA: As many as 111 cases out of total 147 were mediated “successfully” in the Alternate Dispute Resolution Centre (ADRC) in the district within the last five months.

As per the details provided by the office of the ADRC in charge District & Sessions Judge (D&SJ) Bedar Bakhat, from June 1 to November 1, 2017, the ADRC received 147 references -- 17 criminal, 26 civil, 87 family, 14 guardian and three other cases.

Out of these cases, 11 were sent back due to the absence of the parties, in 25 cases the mediation failed and 111 references were successfully mediated under the supervision of ADRC (mediator) Civil Judge Ms Shazia Kausar, in collaboration with Senior Civil Judge (Admin) Faisal Jameel.

The D&SJ also visited the district and tehsil bars of Depalpur and Renala Khurd and sensitised the lawyers about the importance and benefits of the mediation procedure.

Saying that the ADR procedure saved the resources, time and money of the parties, he asked the lawyers to cooperate in the mediation process for early and permanent reconciliation between the parties to disputes of different nature.
