QUETTA, Oct 20: A division bench of the Balochistan High Court has dismissed an appeal filed by a former cashier of the deputy commissioner office challenging the verdict of a trial court.

The appellant, Kaleem Bhatti, had appealed the court to set aside the decision of an accountability court, which had awarded him five-year imprisonment and a fine of Rs15 million convicting him of malpractice and having assets beyond his legal means.

The bench, comprising Chief Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed and Justice Akhtar Zaman, rejected the appeal on Monday.

In an other case a division bench, comprising Justice Amanullah Khan Yasinzai and Justice Ahmed Khan Lashari, heard the arguments of Balochistan University Academic Staff Association chief Dr Imdad Hussain regarding a report submitted by the counsel of the university administration.
