At least 11 suspected terrorists were arrested and a major terror bid foiled in several operations carried out by security and law enforcement personnel in different parts of Balochistan on Sunday.
Security officials said 11 suspected terrorists belonging to a proscribed organisation were arrested in different parts of Balochistan.
In another operation, four improvised explosive devices were recovered from the the province's Killa Saifullah area, security officials said. A bomb disposal squad was called in to defuse the bombs, the officials added.
In the Kohlu district, Levies' personnel foiled a major terror plot after they carried out an operation against suspected terrorists in the area, an official said.
The operation was carried out at a suspected terrorist hideout late last night after Levies officials received a tip-off from intelligence agencies, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kohlu Agha Nadeem Akhtar said in a press conference held in the morning.
Though no arrests were reported, Akhtar claimed that officials had recovered a sizeable cache of weapons, including 181 shells of RPG-7 rockets, 172 RPG fuse and 80 RDS.
Akhtar added that the action was carried out under Pakistan Army's ongoing Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad, which was launched in February in the aftermath of a resurgence of terror attacks in the country.
Radd-ul-Fasaad — which translates roughly to 'elimination of discord' — aims at indiscriminately eliminating the "residual/latent threat of terrorism"
