Power loadshedding

Published December 6, 2017

THE government’s claim that loadshedding of electricity has ended is not correct. The true test will be in the next summer when power demand will be higher than it is now. Electricity consumption is low in winter.

I am at a loss to understand how the addition of power plants without the strengthening of transmission and distribution systems can ease the shortage.

The end of loadshedding cannot be ensured without a synchronised development of power generation, transmission and distribution sectors.

The provision of electricity at acceptable voltage, frequency and stability is a long- term plan. Our electricity pundits should give our political leaders the correct data.

THE federal minister for Power, Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, recently announced in the media an end to electricity loadshedding.

I would like to inform the honourable minister tha the residents of Garden West, Karachi ,and its adjacent areas have been facing loadshedding of six hours and more daily for more than a decade.

Our repeated complaints to the power utility in Karachi have not been redressed to the consumers’ satisfaction.
