SAHIWAL: Around 40 motorcyclists under the banner of Cross Route Club; a bikers club, arrived here from Changa Manga on Sunday.
The motorcyclists were greeted by the local chapter of organisation on Railway Road. They are going to Fort Munro in DG Khan from Lahore for promotion of tourism.
They started their journey from Lahore on Dec 9 which would end in Fort Munro on Dec 12. The bikers’ squad is being led by Muqaram Tareen who recently participated in bike rally from Khunjerab to Karachi.
Tareen told Dawn that his earlier tour was a part of the World Mountain Day Celebration Tour. He bemoaned that tourism was neglected by all governments despite the fact that the country had a huge potential for it.
“The ongoing tour is aimed at promoting Fort Munro which has the same height and scenic views as any northern area hill station of the country. Our objective is to promote the hill station and urge upper and central Punjab tourists to visit this site instead of going to Murree and northern areas.”
After a two-hour stay in the city, the hosts, Muhammad Aleem and Shoaib Toor, took the bikers to ancient archaeological site of Harappa.
LAPTOPS: Governor Rafiq Rajwana will distribute 3,433 laptops among intermediate students of Sahiwal division at Oval Ground of the Govt Postgraduate College on Dec 13.
