PESHAWAR: Hazara Region outclassed competitors from Peshawar by securing 11 gold and as many silver medals and won the overall first position in the provincial round of the National Youth Carnival here on Sunday. Peshawar with 10 gold and 11 silver medals remained second and Dera Ismail Khan and Swat shared the third spot with two gold and as many silver medals each.

Provincial sports minister Mehmood Khan was the chief guest on this occasion and gave away Rs30,000 to each of the teams winning gold medal and Rs20,000 to the winners of silver medals.

Additional secretary Babar Khan, NAB director Mian Waqar, DG youth Asfandyar Khan Khattak, CEO LC, officials and a large number of youth were also present on this occasion.

The DI Khan Region and Swat Region shared the third position with two gold medals and as many silver medals, while Kohat with one gold and one silver settled for the fourth position. Mardan, Karak and Chitral won one gold medal each.

Earlier, Shahid Malang, a famous rabab player, stole the show along with singer Khalid Malik and Sarangai Nawaz Ejaz who enthralled the spectators with their songs.
