REFERENCE the letter “Academic Corruption” (Dec 13) regarding the International Conference on Business and Management: Navigating the Future organised by the Department of Business Administration, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur.

I would like to clarify that scholars from five countries — Malaysia, U.K, China, Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia — participated and presented their result-oriented research papers on the theme.

This conference was not a political show but an academic forum. The conference was inaugurated by Major General Agha Umar Farooque, a prominent educationalist who is not a political figure; its closing session was chaired by retired Justice Syed Ali Aslam Jafferi.

The recommendations and findings of the conference will be published and will be forwarded to policymakers for its implementation.

Funds provided by the Higher Education Commission for organizing this conference were properly utilized by the due process of pre-audit in a transparent way.
