The official website of Karachi police was defaced on Friday, allegedly by Indian hackers. The website appeared to have been restored later in the evening.

The site http://www.karachipolice.gov.pk was hacked by a group calling itself "Mallu Cyber Soldiers", with the phrase "Hacked By D3VIL S3C" written above a depiction of a human skull.

The hackers also wrote "we love India" in capital letters on the hacked website. The website was also playing Vande Mataram, India's national song.

Cross-border hacking attacks have been sporadic yet common since at least 1998.

A team of Indian hackers had defaced the official website of PPP earlier in June.

The Lahore High Court's website has been hacked twice by Indian hackers last year, whereas Pakistani hackers have attacked National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur's website. Hackers claiming to be from Pakistan defaced websites of seven Indian embassies, high commissions, and consulates in various countries with pro-Pakistan Army slogans in July last year.
