BAHAWALPUR: Swine flu allegedly claimed another life at Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) on Monday raising the death toll supposedly from the disease to two in as many days.

According to emergency ward director/BVH focal person Dr Aamir Bokhari, Zubeda Arif, 60, of Chaudhry Town, Bahawalpur had been admitted to the hospital on Sunday and was diagnosed with swine flu.

Bokhari told Dawn that on Sunday, Qais Muhammad, a student of Islamia University of Bahawalpur belonging to Sanawan, Muzaffargarh had died of the disease.

He claimed that an isolation ward had been set up for patients suffering from swine flu where two suspected patients, Shazia and her sister-in-law Saima of Satellite Town, Bahawalpur were under treatment and stable. He further said Shazia was pregnant.

Blood samples of the women had been referred to Quaid-i-Azam Medical College pathological laboratory whose results would be obtained soon.
