KOHAT: Three persons were shot dead in separate incidents here on Tuesday.

Two friends were murdered by unknown armed men on Kalabagh road in Shakardarra town on the border with Mianwali district.

SHO of Shakardara police station, Afzal Awan, said police had shifted the bodies to the civil hospital where a postmortem had been carried out, according to which, the deceased received multiple bullet injuries. The victims were identified as Nasir Mehmood and Mohammad Afaq.

The SHO said it was darkness and the Punjab border was also very close due to which the killers escaped easily.

Separately, a young man was killed over a property dispute by his cousins in Kaghazai area.

The cantonment police said an old dispute had been going on between Mir Nawaz and his cousin Fazal Mehmood. Wajid and his nephew Mir Nawaz ambushed Mehmood and opened fire at him in the fields, killing him instantly.

His body was shifted to KDA teaching hospital for autopsy.

The police registered FIR against the accused on the complaint of brother of the deceased.

OUTLAWS ARRESTED: The police arrested scores of suspects, including five proclaimed offenders, on Tuesday. The action was taken in the city, its outskirts and rural areas. During the drive, registration of 500 vehicles was also checked.

The POs were taken into custody from their hideouts on tip-offs and handed over to respective police stations where FIRs have been registered against them.

The police also seized a small machine gun, 10 pistols, two shotguns, a rifle and eight kilogramme of hashish.

CRACKDOWN ON DRUG SELLERS: The police, during a crackdown, arrested 20 drug peddlers with huge quantity of hashish and heroin. A police statement said the operations were carried out in the jurisdiction of cantonment, Jungle Khel, Jarma, Riaz Mohammad Saheed, city and Bilitang police stations.
