QUETTA: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Balochistan, has unearthed massive wrongdoings in the allotment of industrial plots in the Gwadar Industrial Development Authority (Gida).

Official sources said on Saturday that NAB chairman retired Justice Javed Iqbal had taken notice of the reports about illegal allotment of industrial plots in Gida and ordered an inquiry in this regard.

A Balochistan NAB team raided the office of Gida in Gwadar and took all land allotment record into custody and started investigation into the issue. Balochistan NAB Director General Irfan Mangi was supervising the inquiry.

“NAB officials raided the Gida office in Gwadar and seized all allotment record,” a NAB spokesperson told Dawn. However, he said that no one had been taken into custody so far.

He said that initial investigation had revealed that Gida’s managing director and his predecessor remained involved in corrupt practices and allotment of hundreds of plots to their favorites illegally by ignoring real investors.

The initial investigation further revealed that Gida ignored all terms and conditions to allot land for investors and plots’ files had been sold to their relatives and favourites,” the NAB spokesperson said.
