The bodies of two newborn babies were found on Tuesday amid a heap of garbage within the limits of Badin's Indus Hospital.

According to sources within the hospital and eyewitnesses, the bodies were mangled after being attacked by dogs.

Dr Abdul Sattar, a civil surgeon at the hospital, told the media that he believed the bodies were dumped inside the hospital's premises by outsiders and that no hospital staff was involved in the incident.

The incident created an uproar in Badin, which is also the hometown of Sindh Health Minister Dr Sikandar Ali Mandhro.

The hospital administration did not allow media personnel to visit the site where the bodies were discovered.

District Health Officer Badin, Dr Mehboob Khowaja, said that he had ordered a probe into the incident and assured media personnel that they would be provided details once the report is submitted.

He said that the investigators will also look to determine whether the babies were killed before their bodies were dumped.

Deputy Commissioner of Badin Dr Tahir Shahzad Thaheem has also taken notice of the case and ordered Assistant Commissioner Babar Nizamani and the Badin DHO to conduct an inquiry into the matter and report back to him within 24 hours.

He also said that stern action will be taken if any member of the hospital staff is found to be involved in the crime.
