THE parliamentarians of Balochistan Assembly held a session on Tuesday to vote on a no-confidence motion. Stringent security measures were taken and roads closed to normal traffic.

The extra security measures proved an invitation to terrorist outfits to carry out a suicide bomber attack. Six people were martyred and another 17 injured, some seriously.

I request our lawmakers to ensure the sanctity of life and property of all citizens and not just our parliamentarians. I also urge them to use the floor of the house for the people’s uplift rather than to further their interests.

Let us hope that Tuesday’s bloodletting is the last time the people have sacrificed for the glitterati. The nation can afford this no more.
