CHITRAL: A girl student of third year on Saturday hanged herself to death in Drungagh village of Gohkir valley in the jurisdiction of Mulkhow police station.

An official of Chitral police said that the immediate cause of the suicide could not be ascertained, adding the police had started investigations to know the real cause.

Meanwhile, a human rights activist, Niaz A Niazi Advocate, has said that the incidence of suicides among women is on rise in the district while the causes of the deaths mostly remained untraced. In a statement issued on Saturday, he demanded of the government to conduct a special study to assess the root causes of the rising number of suicides among the girls, and take concrete measures to stop such occurrences in future.
