SUKKUR: Jamaat-i-Islami Pakistan emir Sirajul Haq has said that incidents of rape and murder of children with unabated frequency, the latest of which took place in Kasur, are a sign of system’s failure.

The JI emir said at a media talk at Sukkur Press Club on Sunday evening that rape and murder of seven-year-old Zainab and murder by police of two men protesting against the incident was shameful.

He said that Punjab chief minister visited the victim’s house for condolence in the darkness of night to escape the wrath of people. In Mehrab Pur, a minor girl Nimra was kidnapped and her dead body was found in a blind well a few days later but her killers too had not been punished so far. Whether it was Zainab, Nimra or Sharifan Bibi of Dera Ismail Khan they all were a sign of failure of system, he said.

He asked who could get justice from the system when doors of judiciary were opened by golden keys.

Mr Haq, who was also a Senator, said that his party supported Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) head Dr Tahirul Qadri’s demand that killers of Model Town carnage should be arrested.
