MULTAN: Two more patients diagnosed with H1N1 seasonal influenza died here at the Nishtar Hospital on Tuesday, raising the death toll of the disease in the city to 23.

The patients who died were identified as Muhammad Amin (80) and Bilqees (45), both of them from Multan.

According to health department figures, so far 184 suspected patients of the disease have been admitted to various hospitals in the district. Out of them, 100 tested positive for H1N1 strain of the virus that causes swine flue.

As per official record, 24 confirmed patients of the ailment were being treated at the Nishtar Hospital, while result of the blood samples of two others were awaited.

Out of the 23 patients who have died of H1N1 here, 16 belonged to Multan city, three to Muzaffargarh, two to Khanewal and one each to Vehari and Rajanpur.
