HARIPUR: Four persons of a family, including two women and a minor, were killed in a road accident near Swat Chowk here on Friday.

The dead included a mother and her son, daughter-in-law and grandson.

Police and witnesses said family of Ch Siddiq, president of Haripur butchers association, was on way to attend a marriage ceremony in the city.

However, when their car was overtaking another vehicle near Swat Chowk it suddenly developed some mechanical fault and collided head-on with a passenger bus, killing a woman on the spot while another woman, a minor boy and his father were injured critically.

The injured and dead were shifted to the district headquarters hospital after cutting the mangled mettle of the car.

The injured were referred to Ayub Teaching Hospital Abbottabad but all them succumbed to injuries.

Those killed were identified as Nawishta Bibi, wife of Ch Siddiq, his son Bilal Siddiq, Bilal’s wife Afshan Bibi and their 15-month-old son.
