LAHORE: With two gold medals, Punjab won the inaugural National Women’s Boxing Championships at the Wapda Sports Complex here on Tuesday.

Punjab’s Rukhsana Perveen won the gold medal, when she toppled Memona Bibi of Balochistan in the light weight category on points.

Arzoo Ashraf seized the second gold medal for Punjab in the middle weight category as she defeated Sofia Javed of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the final.

Razia Bano of Sindh clinched a gold medal in the flyweight category when she outclassed Khoushleem Bano of Punjab in the final.

Sports Board Punjab secretary Aamir Jan gave away the prizes to the women boxers. He also announced Rs15000, Rs10,000 and Rs5,000 each for all the gold, silver and bronze medalists of the event respectively.

Women’s flyweight (48-51kg) final: Razia Bano (Sindh) bt Khoushleem Bano (Punjab).

Women’s lightweight (57-60kg) final: Rukhsana Perveen (Punjab) bt Memona Bibi (Balochistan).

Women’s middleweight (69-75kg) final: Arzoo Ashraf (Punjab) bt Sofia Javed (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa).
