Why wait for the checking to be completed? You should cancel the fake identity cards which you have discovered and carry on the process of checking the remaining identity cards. Any other found to be fake could be cancelled later on.

Shame shame shame!
And they realized this, not after a thousand mistakes but after issuing almost 60,000 computerized ids? What did they do in the week between entering tge data and issuing the card if it was not gather background data and varify it?!?!?

This shows clearly the corruption level in NADRA which keeps it's own citizen in troubles and makes money from selling cnic to those who proves that money can buy Pakistani IDs and paddports.

Main issue is what action has the Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal taken so far to rid of this problem? He is wasting a lot of time following a disgraced party leader like other govt ministers are currently doing. Is the purpose of this govt simply to drum beat about their disgraced leader on govt expenses or to actually govern? Far better to have early elections.

@Saba
Admission to rectify a problem shouldn't be ambushed with slogans of 'shame'.
Compared to the actual population, this is a relatively lower figure, which most likely might not have gotten overlooked in the background checks but purposely ignored by the few corrupt present in every department.
NADRA has done a wonderful job and should be commended for it. Other countries have also employed them because of their standards.
Just remember, any human can manually interfere on many levels and that might be the cause here. The good thing is the fake ones will be identified and cancelled. Cancelling prior to verification might create problems for an unsuspecting true ID owner leading to further complications at re-issuance since computer might not permit that. These programs are not written or updated every day and have limitations as to what can and can't be done to troubleshoot a problem.
Happy to see the numbers are not in millions, else a new political drama would've unfolded.

@SHAHID SATTAR
If it's a duplicate being flagged as fake then verification is warranted to ensure the fake is cancelled while permitting the actual one to remain active.

Fake cards can be identified now but there were no checks when the cards were made?
